Tuba City Humane Society is a foster home based rescue. We do not have an animal shelter. We take in and help animals through a small network of kind individuals who are willing to rescue, foster, and transport animals, based in and near Tuba City, on the western Navajo Nation, on the Hopi Nation, and we also have foster homes in Flagstaff. Animals are generally moved to Flagstaff foster homes prior to becoming available for adoption.
We also partner with other rescue organizations in Flagstaff and Phoenix, and many animals are moved to those groups for adoption, allowing us to help more animals. A network of donors helps to fund the costs of rescue and to support access to very low-cost mobile spay/neuter services. We apply for grants supporting access to veterinary care for those who can’t otherwise afford it. We work closely with Dr. Carol Holgate, of Desert View Veterinary Clinic, in Tuba City, to assist families with access to veterinary care when they otherwise may not be able to afford it. In 2021, we began working with mobile spay/neuter providers, and we sponsor and fund very low-cost spay and neuter and vaccination clinics in Tuba City, with the aid of grants and donations for that purpose.
We rely on your support to be able to continue rescuing animals, and to provide access to very low-cost spay and neuter and vaccination services.

Box 1016, Tuba City, AZ 86045. Venmo @TubaCity-HumaneSociety. You can donate through another platform here. Your donations literally allow us to continue to rescue, and to sponsor low-cost spay/neuter/vaccination clinics. We are an all-volunteer group. 95%+ of our expenses are the veterinary costs of rescue. All of the animals who come into our care receive veterinary treatment, through our main service provider, Desert View Veterinary Clinic, or veterinary clinics in Flagstaff.
If you would rather donate items, we have several wish lists online, which provide supplies for animals in foster homes, and also food for people who are feeding strays.

Be a Foster Hero – Foster a Pet
We rely on volunteers to foster rescued pets in their homes or in a secure location on their property. Foster homes help prepare rescued pets for adoption, while they are getting healthy and receive necessary veterinary care including vaccinations and spay or neuter surgery. Learn more about fostering here.
Volunteer
We have a variety of ways you can help, including virtual and skill based opportunities. You can find out more on the Volunteer With Us page.
Transport
Volunteer to transport animals. We need to transport animals several times a week from Tuba City to Flagstaff, and sometimes to the Phoenix area. We are always looking for more volunteers who travel regularly between Tuba City and Flagstaff or Phoenix, or anywhere on the western Navajo Nation, between Kayenta/Shonto/Cowsprings and Flagstaff.
We sometimes need transport help by someone with a truck who can assist with picking up a truckload of donated dog food in Flagstaff and bring it to Tuba City, AZ.
